Art Brut Front-man Moonlights in Glam Chops

At Eddie Argos’s day job in Art Brut, he’s has always shown the odd glam tendency or two. Well, now the vocalist for the punk-y UK art rock outfit is fully embracing these leanings with his new band, the appropriately titled Glam Chops.

Recently formed by Argos and David Devant (of David Devant and his Spirit Wife), the Art Brut side-project is "an orthodox glam rock outfit… ripping up the glam rock rulebook and rewriting it for the day-glo, txtspk, barmy crowd generation.” Or at least this is how Argos puts it via Glam Chops’ MySpace page.

Along with Argos and Devant, the band includes Tim Purr (guitar), Paul Guided Missile (bass), Arec Koundarjian (saxophone), Gilchrist (drums) and the Panther Girls (backing vocals/sex appeal). And according to Argos, "all members of the group participate in dance routines during the performance… their stage attire is glittery suits, platform shoes, make up and they do all the necessary synchronized stage stomping.”

The group have begun recording demos (several of which were posted today on their MySpace page), but no word yet on any proper Glam Chops releases. On the live front, the band are actively touring the UK at the moment and looking to secure several summer festival spots. According to Argos, Glam Chops are even in negotiations to take over Jay-Z’s Glastonbury headlining spot — his or any other that will take them to Top of the Pops.
