Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti

'Mature Themes' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 13, 2012

Ariel Pink made the leap from lo-fi oddball to indie rock sensation with 2010's Before Today and its dazzling single "Round and Round." Now, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti are getting ready to drop the follow-up with Mature Themes, due out August 21 via 4AD. Prior to the official release, you can stream the whole thing at Exclaim.ca.

The album finds Pink continuing to move away from his lo-fi origins with expansively synth-driven arrangements and dreamy, atmospheric flourishes. It also finds him channelling his classic quirky pop sensibilities on curious cuts like "Kinski Assassin," "Schnitzel Boogie" and "Symphony of the Nymph," and delving into epic-length ambience on "Nostradamus & Me."

Pink and his band will be touring in support of the album in the coming months. The North American schedule includes stops in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, so check out the itinerary here.

And of course listen to Mature Themes below.
