Are Black Kids Done Making Music?

It’s the classic story: band meet blog, band lose blog, band break up. That’s sort of how it’s going for Florida’s Black Kids, who rode a wave of hype on their self-released Wizard of Ahhhs EP into a major label deal for their debut Partie Traumatic. The hype was soon deflated, as Partie Traumatic was released to mixed reviews. And now, everything seems to be taking a toll on the band; singer Reggie Youngblood recently told Spinner that they might not be doing another album.

Youngblood said, "I don't know if there's going to be a second record. If anything, [performing] has hindered my songwriting because I'm used to writing on my own pace, at my leisure, or while I'm supposed to be working a proper job. I don't really have time to sit down. When I'm not performing, I'm usually really tired and just want to sleep.”

Poor Black Kids. Those blogs sure know how to love 'em and leave 'em!
