Arctic Monkeys Wrap What May or May Not Be Their Stoner Rock Record

After months of play-by-play, Sheffield's bratty Arctic Monkeys have their third long-player in the can. The band haven't given it a title yet but they have set a North American release for August 25 via Domino and leaked the tracklisting.

As previously reported, much of this follow-up to 2007's Favourite Worst Nightmare was laid down with Arctic Monkeys bud James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco. The remaining selections were then recorded with Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, who produced tracks off the new album in California's famed Joshua Tree National Park.

We're not sure at this point if the record is going to take on a certain stoner rock quality as a result of Homme being in the mix but early this year Arctic Monkeys front-man Alex Turner said the new record has "a certain element of dust in the sound of it." Also, it apparently has a sound that warrants a Sabbath tee in the new press photo and song titles like "Crying Lightning" and "Fire and the Thud."

Here's that tracklisting:

1. "My Propeller"
2. "Crying Lightning"
3. "Dangerous Animals"
4. "Secret Door"
5. "Potion Approaching"
6. "Fire and the Thud"
7. "Cornerstone"
8. "Dance Little Liar"
9. "Pretty Visitors"
10. "The Jeweller's Hands"
