Published Dec 02, 2009They've been fairly secretive with the details, but we've been hard at work to keep track of Arcade Fire as they work on their upcoming third album. Most recently, we learned that the band were recording strings in New York City. Now, we can report that producer Markus Dravs is attached to the project.
The producer, who has previously worked with Coldplay and Björk, as well as on 2007's Neon Bible, has apparently been working with the band for six months. The news was leaked to BBC 6 Music by Marcus Mumford, a member of the Dravs-produced group Mumford and Sons.
"I don't know if I'm aloud to say this but yeah, he's working on the next Arcade Fire record at the moment," Mumford said of Dravs. "I'm sure that's public knowledge, because he's been there for about six months." If it was public knowledge, we would have known by now, being the Arcade Fire news-hounds we are.
Since Neon Bible, Arcade Fire have only released a small amount of new material, most notably their contribution to Richard Kelly's The Box. Their third album is expected some time in 2010.
