Published May 13, 2009That Arcade Fire crew sure are swell, aren't they? Not only do they act all polite and proper when they get dissed by a Flaming Lip, but they regularly lend a hand to those in need, like they recently did by appearing on the Dark Was the Night benefit comp. Well, the anthemic Montrealers are opening their charitable hearts once again, with the band this time donating all proceeds from a very limited and very special edition of their Miroir Noir DVD to charity.
The members of Arcade Fire have signed 250 copies of the deluxe edition of their recent cinematic release and begun selling them online for $250 each. All proceeds go to Partners in Health, a charity that works to secure quality health care in more impoverished parts of the world. And along with some autographs and the knowledge that you're helping a good cause, an exclusive, limited-edition, hand silk-screened poster is being thrown into the deal as well.
In 2007, the band donated a share of their Neon Bible tour ticket sales to Partner in Health's program in Haiti, helping the organisation deliver care to the poor by sending thousands of kids to school with hot meals and providing housing for the poorest medical patients.
