Published Jun 27, 2014Last year, members of Arcade Fire teamed up with filmmaker Marcel Dzama to deliver the score to his short film Une Danse Des Baffons. Now, the music is being served up on a limited-edition 7-inch packaged with the next issue of The Believer.
Due to arrive the first week of July, the publication's annual music issue includes a four-song vinyl single showcasing the "haunting, largely instrumental" score. The tracks were prepped by Arcade Fire's Will Butler, Jeremy Gara and Tim Kingsbury, along with Dzama, who had also worked with the band on their Scenes from the Suburbs, among other projects. The record will only be available for purchase with the magazine and will not be repressed.
Premiered on the film festival circuit last year, Une Danse Des Baffons is described as a "Dadaist love story" touching on themes of "death and rebirth, multiple identities and doppelgängers, false prophets, love and love lost, the corruption of power and fragility of what is real or true." Body/Head's Kim Gordon stars in the film, which was inspired by Marcel Duchamp's Étant Donnés.
You'll find a trailer for the film down below.
