Last night (September 28), Arcade Fire made their eagerly anticipated appearance on Saturday Night Live, which was followed by their Here Comes the Night Time concert special. This gave the beloved Montreal band a chance to play some new material from their upcoming album Reflektor (due out October 29 on Merge).

Arcade Fire were clad in white formal wear (with frontman Win Butler daubed in black face paint around his eyes), with the core lineup fleshed out by a large backing ensemble including a Colin Stetson-featuring horn section and a pair of conga players. In addition to playing their epic single "Reflektor" on SNL, they debuted "Afterlife." This song mixed disco danceability with classic the band's signature drama. They additionally appeared on game show comedy sketch called New Cast Member or Arcade Fire?

As for the Roman Coppola-directed Here Comes the Night Time, it contains 22 minutes of live footage from Montreal's Salsathèque. We witness more new tunes, white suits and grand arrangements, plus comedic celebrity cameos from James Franco, Ben Stiller, Bono, Rainn Wilson, Michael Cera, Aziz Ansari, Eric Wareheim, Bill Hader, and Zach Galifianakis.

Watch the special plus the Saturday Night Live footage below, although note that the SNL clips are geo-blocked and require a U.S. IP address.
