Arcade Fire

"The Suburbs" (video) (directed by Spike Jonze)

Arcade Fire have been the world's favourite indie rock band for a long time, but with their 2010 effort The Suburbs, they've reached unprecedented heights with both album sales and fame. One of the many perks of such success is the fact that they have big-name directors lining up to work with them. They have already worked with Terry Gilliam, and back in August we reported that they had teamed up with Spike Jonze for a short film shot in Austin, TX. Well, now that Jonze video is finally up for viewing.

In the original interview about the video, Win Butler described the film as "a science fiction B-movie companion piece for the record." Without giving too much away, the clip features a group of young teens riding bikes and avoiding authority in nondescript suburbia while an ominous military presence comes down on them.

Butler made it seem like their collaboration with Jonze was more than just a music video, so there's a chance we can expect more to come from this relationship. For now, the video for "The Suburbs" can be streamed below.
