A$AP Yams' Death Ruled as Accidental Overdose

Earlier this year, tragedy struck the hip-hop community when A$AP Yams, a founding member of A$AP Mob, passed away. He was 26 years old.

Jon Caramanica, music reporter for the New York Times, confirmed via Twitter that the artist born Steven Rodriquez passed away from an accidental overdose from "mixed drug intoxication," including opiates and benzodiazepine.

Prior to his death, Yams had undergone drug addiction treatment related to Xanax and codeine abuse. After he died, the other members of the A$AP Mob denied it was an overdose.

"People were saying that Yams overdosed on drugs — he didn't overdose on any drugs," A$AP Rocky told Billboard. "I feel like people feel that way because that's all he's in pictures doing. When you see A$AP Yams you see Hennessey or purple drink, you see some type of controlled substance or illegal narcotic."

A$AP Yams' last tweet before his death, however, was a reference to sipping lean.
