Anvil Finally Bring This Is Thirteen to the Masses with Reissue

BY Greg PrattPublished Jul 27, 2009

We're still stunned at the success of Anvil! The Story of Anvil, the wildly successful documentary about long-suffering Canuck underdog metal band Anvil. But there's no time to sit and be shocked, as the band are moving forward with some huge gigs and the announcement of a date for the re-release of their last full-length.

According to the band's website, their last effort, This Is Thirteen, is slated for a September 15 re-release through VH1 Classic Records. The album was originally released in 2007, when nobody was paying any attention whatsoever to Anvil, on the group's Anvil Enterprises imprint. The reissued CD will feature one new unreleased song and the double LP version will have a couple re-recordings of Anvil Classics "Metal on Metal" and "666" as bonuses.

Anvil have been riding a wild wave of success since the movie, culminating in a string of dates playing stadiums with AC/DC. Canadian fans get one gig: August 6 in Moncton, NB, at Magnetic Hill.

As for a DVD release of Anvil! The Story of Anvil, nothing is confirmed just yet, as the movie is still buzzing in theatres.
