Published Mar 12, 2012Animal Collective fans are still waiting for the eclectic weird pop troupe to drop their proper follow-up to 2009's celebrated Merriweather Post Pavilion, but the group will attempt to sate their devoted when they issue a new twelve-inch featuring the sounds to their 2010 Guggenheim Museum installation, Transverse Temporal Gyrus.
Domino Records announced today (March 12) over Twitter that the score, which accompanied visuals prepped by longtime collaborator Danny Perez, will pop up on vinyl this Record Store Day (April 21).
As previously reported, Transverse Temporal Gyrus features "original recorded music composed specifically for the work along with video projections, costumes, and props, rendering the band members and performers into intense, visual abstractions." You can sample a snippet of the piece down below.
The limited-edition Transverse Temporal Gyrus twelve-inch will also be packaged with a fold-out poster.
Meanwhile, Animal Collective have yet to announce whether they've finished recording sessions for their next LP.
