Animal Collective

'Strawberry Jam' (time lapse video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 12, 2012

Since Animal Collective are gearing up to record their next album, the experimental popsmiths are reminiscing about past studio time and have dropped an interesting clip documenting the recording of their 2007 set Strawberry Jam.

As described by the band, sound engineer Scott Colburn set up a video camera at at Wave Lab Studios in Tucson, Arizona and captured a snippet of time every minute throughout the whole recording session. Down below you can see the rough edit of the whole process. Note how band members bounce around from spot to spot while whamming on drum kits and tweaking knobs 'neath that night vision glow. Sonically, the stop motion effect somehow chops the tunes into bizarre, ambient/IDM amalgams that further skew the troupe's weird-pop vision.

According to the note the band attached with the vid, they start recording their new album next week.
