Andy Shauf took listeners to The Neon Skyline earlier this year, and the LP was named one of Exclaim!'s Must-Hear Canadian Albums from Winter 2020. Now, he's shared "You Slipped Away," an outtake from those sessions, as a new Amazon Original single.
"'You Slipped Away' was an early demo during The Neon Skyline sessions, but as the album storyline evolved, this song lost its place in the narrative," said Shauf in a statement. "I'd forgotten about it until fairly recently, and realized it sort of worked on its own."
As with most of Shauf's works, the song pairs heartbreaking, narrative-driven lyrics with lush folk arrangements.
