Andy Kim

"Longest Time"

Canadian songwriter Andy Kim might be best known for writing the Archies' 1960s pop smash "Sugar, Sugar," but he's turning the spotlight back on himself for It's Decided.

The new record arrives on February 24 via Arts & Crafts, and he's recruited an impressive array of Canadian music makers to help him with the project. Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene), Ohad Benchetrit (Do Make Say Think) and Dave Hamelin (the Stills, Eight and a Half) co-wrote and produced the album, and you can hear their sonic influences on the new single "Longest Time."

Kim's vocals are backed by airy harmonies, with jangly guitars and interesting percussion rounding out the track. In a press release for the album, Drew stated: "This is Andy's heartfelt want to still make it even though many would say his history is enough. Gentle and enigmatic, ageless and ecstatic, Andy always looks to transcend and find the honesty in what he does and does with others."

Listen to the new single below [via PopMatters], and here's to hoping that Kim's career continues to last for the "Longest Time."
