Andrew W.K. Attempting to Break World Record for Longest-Ever Drum Session

Andrew W.K. recently rebounded from his failed U.S. Cultural Ambassador bid to become a Playtex spokesman and has now revealed another fresh plan to hold the longest-ever drum session in a retail store.

As the Hollywood Reporter reports, this Wednesday (June 19), as part of Viacom's O Music Awards' 24-hour live stream special from the Oakley store in New York's Times Square, W.K. will bring out a number of drummers to help him set a world record by drumming for 24 hours straight. While he's apparently going to keep the bulk of the roster under wraps, he let it slip that the Roots' Questlove will take part in the percussive party, which kicks off at 7 p.m. EDT.

"Some of these I would consider the greatest drummers in the world," W.K. told the publication. "People that I've admired for years and years."

To get ready for the stunt, apparently dude has been practising air drumming with weights instead of sticks. "I want to feel like it's harder than it is," W.K. said. "I'd rather be over-prepared."

You will be able to watch the live stream here.

UPDATE: Well, W.K. did it. He ended up drumming for 24 hours from Wednesday to Thursday, earning the world record for Longest Drum Session in a Retail Store, according to a statement from MTV.
