Andrew Austin Signs to MapleMusic for 'While It's Still Light Out'

Perhaps best known as the voice behind Alexander Keith's "Toast This Life" campaign, Toronto singer-songwriter Andrew Austin is now getting to issue an LP of his own via new label home MapleMusic. His While It's Still Light Out arrives October 8.

A press release notes that Austin's upcoming 12-song set was recorded with producer David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Super Furry Animals) at his Dobbstown Haunted Church studio. The recording experience was apparently so involved that Austin briefly took up residence in Newfeld's adjoining Priest's House.

Threading together the minimalist folk of Paul Simon with the anthemic approach of Patrick Watson, While It's Still Light Out is said to deliver the "emotional, surreal and reflective undertones " of Austin's live performances. You can sample the set's "Inside Out" down below.

"Toast This Life," performed by Grayson Matthews and featuring vocals from Austin, may not be included as part of the album, but has currently racked up over 100,000 views and counting on YouTube. You can check out the boisterous beer anthem over here.
