André Ethier

Front-man for the Deadly Snakes, André Ethier, has made good use of his free time. Actually, two days of his time away from the band, and with the help of some friends, André Ethier with Christopher Sandes featuring Pickles and Price, his first solo album, was born. Taking a vacation from the garage rock he has gained acclaim for with the Snakes, Ethier’s solo is still filled with the energy and thrills that made last year’s Ode To Joy a favourite. Less emphasis is placed on electric guitars than with other instruments, such as the piano (in full ragtime mode) and ukulele, which are given a higher profile. Visions of Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Tom Waits pop into mind, as his raggedy, boozy folk rock sustains a strong sense of the past. Ethier’s craftsmanship has produced an album that is full of soulful, whiskey-stained ballads with enough heart to kill a thousand men.
