We already heard about Montreal-based/Brazil-born Amon Tobin's trippy new stage show, which he created to perform his boundary-pushing new album, Isam. Featuring a massive 3D stage setup, the electronic experimentalist premiered the show at MUTEK earlier this year. Now, he's getting ready to take it on tour.
The outing includes nine dates. Along with the show's U.S. debut, Tobin will be performing twice in Canada: in Toronto on October 23 and in Montreal the next day.
We called Tobin's MUTEK gig "an incredibly ambitious visual performance that went off without a hitch and proved to be one hell of a way to launch MUTEK 2011."
As the press release states, the show "features a stunning 25' x 14' x 8' multi-dimensional/ shape shifting 3D art installation surrounding Tobin and enveloping him and the audience in a beyond 3D experience." This is created with "projection mapping, generative/audio reactive real time and pre-rendered elements combined with custom software to control the show."
Read our MUTEK review for a more detailed play-by-play of exactly what the visual display entails, and watch a video preview embedded at the bottom of this page.
Of course, be sure to check out Isam, available now via Ninja Tune, which we said was "undoubtedly Tobin's best work in years."
