Two years off from Amon Amarth's 2011 album Surtur Rising, the long-running Swedish melodic death metal outfit have announced their next set, Deceiver of the Gods. The Norse lore-inspired band's ninth full-length arrives in North America June 25 through Metal Blade and a day earlier overseas.
A press release notes that the 10-song set was recorded at Derbyshire, UK's Backstage Studios with Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth). The record is said to feature "buzzsaw riff work, melodic harmonies and soul-severing rhythms," with vocalist Johan Hegg noting that it's the "strongest album" Amon Amarth have produced thus far.
"I'm confident that all our fans will enjoy this punch-in-the-face-of-a-record!" he said in a statement.

Amon Amarth also have some North American dates starting up in late June. These include a Toronto stop at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest with Rob Zombie, Mastodon, Children of Bodom and more, as well as an appearance at Heavy MTL in August.
