Amelia Curran Stands Up to Music Industry Sexism on "No More Quiet"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 21, 2017

Last month, Amelia Curran revealed the initial details behind her upcoming album Watershed, and now Exclaim! is giving you some further insight into her latest LP with the premiere of a track titled "No More Quiet."

As the title implies, it's a song with a message that's meant to be heard loud and clear. It finds Curran addressing the role of women in the music industry and standing up to the misogyny that permeates the field.

"A woman in the music industry has two jobs. She is awarded an extra responsibility of standing guard," Curran said in a statement. "Flags of feminism have been flying low of late. Young women are claiming they do not 'believe' in feminism. It has become too harsh, too prickly a word for their liking, in a world where we are equals, after all. But it is not over. It is too quiet."

She continued: "'No More Quiet' is an ultimatum. When sexual assault is evaporated because he was just joking, it is not over. I am not the token female performer at your event, I am the workforce. And if misogyny in this workplace continues, then you are going to lose the workforce."

The song hears Curran carrying on the feminist-forward rock'n'roll grit that was introduced on previous single "Gravity." Listen to the defiant declarations of "No More Quiet" below.

As previously reported, Watershed is due out on March 10 through Six Shooter Records. Get the first look at the freshly unveiled album artwork up above.
