'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Soundtrack Gets Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, Johnny Marr

We already knew that currently ubiquitous pop producer Pharrell Williams and Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer were working together on music for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now, some of the details surrounding that soundtrack have emerged, and Williams and Zimmer aren't the only big-name contributors.

The soundtrack will include a song called "It's on Again," which was written by Williams and Zimmer along with R&B hit-maker Alicia Keys and rap sensation Kendrick Lamar. Keys is the principal performer and Lamar makes a featured appearance. Pharrell produced the song.

"I'm very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer," Keys said in a statement. "This is the next chapter in the Spider-Man legacy and we really feel 'It's on Again' captures the experience, the story — and most importantly — the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There's a little bit of a super hero in all of us."

This song closes the film. The movie's director, Marc Webb, said that he was looking for a song to be "upbeat and exciting, but also contain a note of foreboding," and this tune apparently fits the bill.

The soundtrack's score was composed by Zimmer, along with the so-called Magnificent Six, which consists of Williams, Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger, Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro.

Zimmer said, "When we came together to form a band to create the music of this film, we did the opposite of what composers usually do — we wrote songs, and from the songs came the themes. We embraced a rock'n'roll ethos on this movie, and it paid off."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be out on April 22, and it will include new songs from Pharrell, the Neighbourhood, Alvin Risk and LIZ. Phosphorescent's "Song for Zula" also appears.

The flick arrives in theatres on May 2. Watch a trailer below.
