Alpha Boy School

Big Fight

BY Dan CohenPublished Aug 1, 2003

The ’80s are back! A Sprite commercial, Vice City, synth-pop (okay, that was a year ago), and now in — ska? It would seem that way if the Alpha Boy School had their way. This Germany-based band plays as if the last 20 years of ska music never existed, playing straight-up two-tone ska. Several songs had me checking the liner notes to see if they weren’t long lost Specials songs. They do it well though, the songs are catchy and the music is poppy enough to carry the upbeat tone of the music.
