The duo winnowed 35 songs down to nine

Allegories — the Hamilton, ON, electronica duo of Adam Bentley and Jordan Mitchell — have released a new, chilled-out track, "Always True." It's the final single from Endless, their first new album in 14 years.

A press release explains the band's extended absence: "You have your whole life to write first album and only six months to write your second. Allegories, however, opted to take a good 13 years to deliver their sophomore release."

The genesis for the album began in 2014, with the press release stating that the duo commenced "writing and recording with no clear destination in mind, dabbling in everything from neoclassical compositions to rap tracks," adding that they then spent "the better part of a decade winnowing down some 35 song ideas" into the finished nine-track album.

Today, we're getting another taste of what's to come with "Always True," which "feels like the dark part at the end of the night," the band said. "The wrong side of 5 a.m. A dark warehouse bouncing to ominous synth pads, and 909s. A sudden surge of energy, a second wind, one more dance while the night wears off."

Endless is out April 29 via Hidden Pony. Their most recent album, Surreal Auteur, came out all the way back in 2008.
