Alice in Chains Reveal Release Date, Tour, Teaser Track
Sometimes it's easy to be a cynic about all of these band reformations and reunions. But in the case of Alice in Chains, perhaps the proof that it's not all bad is "A Looking In View," the new song recently posted at the band's website.

The seven-minute long track sounds like vintage Alice, complete with a signature Jerry Cantrell swamp riff and the snarly, anguished vocals of new singer/guitarist and Layne Staley soundalike William DuVall. A video for the song is coming soon with a trailer available on the band's site.

As we recently reported, the band have signed to Virgin Records for their upcoming new full-length, which now has the due date of September 29 and the title Black Gives Way to Blue. It will mark their first studio album since 1995's self-titled effort (also known as "Tripod" or "Three-Legged Dog"). The new album was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA, and Henson Studios in Hollywood.

As all the band's fans know, Staley, Alice in Chain's original vocalist, died of a drug overdose in 2002. The surviving members then reformed in 2005 for some reunion shows and eventually roped in DuVall as their full-time vocalist.

Besides the new album and teaser track, the band have lined up a tour, which includes one Canadian date on September 15 in Toronto. The rest find the group swinging through Europe and the eastern U.S., so start digging around for that old flannel shirt.
