It's a confusing time to be an Alexisonfire fan. While the faithful rejoiced over the weekend when guitarist Wade MacNeil told a Toronto crowd that the band was "officially back," a new statement from the reunited screamo act clarifies that they have "no immediate plans."
Late last night (September 22), Alexisonfire used their Facebook page to weigh in on the buzz that's built up since the Riot Fest performance, where MacNeil told the audience, "We promise to never leave you again."
Perhaps dampening the mood a bit, the statement explains that while the act are technically "back," they will also continue to focus on their outside careers and families. As such, spates of reunion dates or any sort of album may not be on the horizon any time soon.
It concludes by noting that the quintet "are back in each other's lives and are as good friends now as we've ever been," adding a somewhat hopeful, "If we're lucky, we'll see you out there again."
As previously reported, Alexisonfire had spent the summer travelling the globe to play festival dates. This included Canadian performances in Montreal, Edmonton and Toronto. A Calgary performance was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
