Alexisonfire Announce New Dog's Blood EP

Alexisonfire Announce New Dog's Blood EP
It's been months since Alexisonfire first started talking about the "crazy riff" on Dog's Blood, the title track of their new EP. Thankfully, the group have put their money where their mouths are and are finally set to release the out-there composition.

The long-discussed track made its live debut at last week's Canadian Artist Selected By You (CASBY) awards in Toronto, ON (September 30). Revved up like a long-lost Motörhead tune, the cut steamrolls by on a barrage of double-time drums and '80s metal riffs before eventually coming to its climax of emotional mosh breakdowns and trade-off vocals between crooning six-stringer Dallas Green and shrill, shrieking frontman George Pettit. You can watch the performance for yourself in the YouTube video below.

A press release describes the EP, to be released November 2, as a departure for the band, pushing both their harder and softer tendencies to their natural extremes. Pettit describes some of its ventures as "atmospheric-sounding," a far cry from their screamo past.

"They're completely different-sounding songs and would probably never make it onto a full-length record," says Green of the EP.

On top of being available digitally and as a CD, a limited run of 2,000 vinyl records will be pressed in three different colours. Record stores will receive one variation, another through the band's web store and the last version can be picked up during Alexisonfire's upcoming winter tour.
