Festival season is about to hit in a major way, and Alberta's alternative-leaning outings have thrown their hats into the ring. Though they take place in different cities, Calgary's X-Fest and Edmonton's Sonic Boom will share the same lineup this September.
The list of performers for both events has been unveiled. They include appearances from Ellie Goulding, Alexisonfire, Hozier, Tenacious D, Brandon Flowers, Mother Mother, TV on the Radio, Tokyo Police Club, the Rural Alberta Advantage, Kongos, St. Lucia, Big Data, Robert Delong, K-Os, Eagles of Death Metal, the Elwins and Gay Nineties.
There are also two mystery artists listed as "?????????" and Young Empires are listed on the Calgary poster only.
Both fests take place on September 5 and 6, with Calgary's X-Fest hitting Fort Calgary and Edmonton's Sonic Boom taking place at Borden Park. Presumably, that means they'll just swap lineups on each day, though a schedule has yet to be unveiled.
Tickets for X-Fest are available here, while tickets for Sonic Boom will be available on Friday (May 1).
