Air's Jean-Benoît Dunckel Launches Starwalker Project with Bang Gang's Barði Jóhannsson

Though Air member Jean-Benoît Dunckel just delivered his Tomorrow's World's debut disc earlier this year, the French electro-pop figure has announced he has yet another two-piece project on the horizon. This one's called Starwalker, and it finds him teaming up with Icelandic composer Bardi Johannsson (Bang Gang, Lady & Bird).

Not much has been revealed about the band thus far, but press material explains that they're apparently working on an EP of "soft, spatial sounds." The pair's debut single is supposedly due in September, but you can get an idea of what to expect via a mysterious new trailer.

As you can see down below, the quick clip shows a cloaked figure letting loose a bunch of ebon balloons in the desert, as a serene if moody blend of pianos, misty synths and slow-stomping beats play in the background.

Judging by the title of the video, this new song could be called "Bad Weather," though that has yet to be confirmed.

As for Tomorrow's World, which features Dunckel and New Young Pony Club's Lou Hayter, their self-titled debut was released last April via Naïve Records. Air's last release was 2012's Le Voyage Dans la Lune.
