Air Raid Anthem

Ready To Get Sweaty

With a title like Ready To Get Sweaty, I was expecting this to be a lot more dance floor obnoxious, rather than the sugary sweet power pop found within. Air Raid Anthem verge on being a little synth-heavy, at times, by embracing overused production that undermines their organic talent, inevitably distracting from the energetic gems littered throughout. Standouts "Infidelity Is So Hot Right Now" and "Unsolved Histories" are the most believable tracks on the album. Resident Canadian vocalist Justin Harker has fun with their pop punk influences, honing slightly wittier lyrics. They slow things down with promising piano bridges combined with overdriven guitars, demonstrating a creative edge they otherwise ignore. Closer "Cinematic Faux Pas" is their version of a Las Vegas lullaby, and while sounding pretty, it suggests they haven't quite figured out their niche yet. If they lose some of the synth and "girls will like this" attitude, Air Raid Anthem's talent will swell.
