Published Jan 08, 2013Canadian avant-garde musician Aidan Baker collaborated with a massive crew plucked from the ranks of Swans, the Jesus Lizard, Slowdive and more for his sprawling, 96-track Spectrum of Distraction LP, but plays with but two other artists for his new project B/B/S. Baker joined forces with experimental artist Andrea Belfi and guitarist Erik Skodvin on the group's debut Brick Mask, which arrives through Skodvin's Miasmah imprint on February 22.
A press release explains that the trio tracked Brick Mask while holed up in a Berlin-area studio, and apparently the three distilled their influences into "one dense cloud of instrumental bleakness," with Skodvin's droning six-stringing "perfectly matched against Baker's rolling basses and Belfi's unpredictable, collapsing percussion." The release goes on to assert that the doomy LP is "rooted in metal."

B/B/S are also issuing a 7-inch titled Half Moon on February 22, which will feature three more tracks. You can see the tracklists for both releases down below.
