He’s French, but he’s caught the Detroit bug. Sebastien Devaud, aka Agoria, finally weighs in with his debut minimal/tech LP, after a couple of years of contributing to compilations and spinning off twelve-inches and building his reputation. The album maintains a lean techno ethic throughout, while borrowing from house to inflate and bounce it a bit. On the housier side of things, the single "Stereolove,” sounds like it could be a restrained Gus Gus track. Then there’s the captivating "Kofea,” with its muted, increasingly dirty Hoover bass over a French house beat. On the tech side "2thousand3” is a slow building, mysterious track featuring Tricky — and it’s very Tricky. It’s a subtly sexy release.
