Against Me! Calls Out Topshop for Unauthorized Use of Band Name on $700 Leather Jacket

Right after putting Shape Shift With Me in stores, Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace has called out clothing retailer Topshop for putting a shapely, super punk leather jacket bearing the words "Against Me!" on its racks without the band's permission.

The frontwoman for the Floridian punk band hopped on Twitter over the weekend to point out that a black studded jacket sporting the band's name on a sleeve — including the signature exclamation point — is completely unauthorized, a move she dubbed "uncool."
When a fan asked about the legality of the issue, Grace responded "'Against Me!' is a trademark that I in fact legally own."

The stencilled leather jacket had been selling in UK shops and online, and also referenced punk bands including the Vandals, the Bouncing Souls, and Choking Victim, Punknews reports.

In response to Grace's objection, the online listing has been removed, the item is in the process of being yanked from sales floors and the retailer has extended an apology. The guitarist/vocalist retweeted the apology, and you can read it below.
