Aeroc

Viscous Solid

BY Tabassum SiddiquiPublished Jun 1, 2004

His first release for highly-regarded abstract electronic label Ghostly, producer/composer Geoff White adopted the Aeroc (pronounced "EYE-rock”) moniker for this seamless ambient mix. The record is composed almost entirely of guitar lines, though with the exception of acoustic-driven opening track "My Love, the Wave Break” and the jazzy "Blue-Eyed Bitter,” the guitar is barely identifiable. White manipulates the sound to range from dark drones ("Wish Eyes”) to smooth downbeat ("Please Go Wrong”). It’s all terribly skilful, yet somehow bloodless, not so much a solid as an ethereal vapour.
