Action Bronson And Statik Selektah

Well Done

BY Mark BozzerPublished Nov 22, 2011

Flushing, Queens and Lawrence, MA hook up to throw down a hot plate of rhymes and beats on joint full-length project Well Done, which has Bronsolinio spitting witty darts over Statik's rich production. The duo start off strong on possible Movember anthem "Respect the Mustache," where over throwback scratches and retro keys Action lets us know how he drives, "Control the whip with one hand/Listenin' to Hendrix/Loaded .45 chrome/tucked by the appendix." On "Time For Some," featuring Lil Fame from M.O.P., gritty NYC street shit is on the menu as Statik flips Redman's classic "Time For Some Axion" and bodies the backbeat with some hard drums and horns, which Bronson boasts effortlessly over. With other assists from the likes of Mayhem Lauren, Maffew Ragazino and AG Da Coroner (part of the Outdoorsmen clique), as well as Nina Sky, this record is another example of why rap music continues to grow and evolve due to the efforts of the next generation who know the rules: respect the art form and bring something new to the table.
