Since forming out of the ashes of DD/MM/YYYY, Toronto group Absolutely Free have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with. They've just released a new 12-inch via One Big Silence, and you can stream the whole thing here now.
Built on synths, guitar and vocal interplay and a relentless rhythm section, "UFO" demonstrates Absolutely Free as an entirely technical band. That's not to say they're all theory, however, as the song's also packed with fascinating hooks and melodies.
"Glass Tassle" offers more pronounced extremes as subdued jam portions erupt into explosive areas of noise. Closing out the mix is "UFO Reprogrammed," a 10-minute kraut space-out sure to get heads turning.
