A Tribe Called Red Unite with Tanya Tagaq, Yasiin Bey, Shad for 'We Are the Halluci Nation'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 12, 2016

Coming off of A Tribe Called Red's recent "Stadium Pow Wow" single, the electronic trio have announced plans to release their third full-length album. A guests-loaded journey that features appearances from Tanya Tagaq, Shad, Yasiin Bey and more, We Are the Halluci Nation arrives September 16 via Pirates Blend.

A press release explains that the latest effort from DJ NDN, Bear Witness and 2oolman is an "intense, incendiary collection" — one that continues the band's blend of electronic music with a "deep sense of heritage and cultural identity. " It's the first full-length release from the group since 2oolman joined the lineup in 2014, following the exit of co-founder DJ Shub.

The record includes multiple appearances from feted throat singer Tanya Tagaq and Toronto's Lido Pimienta, as well as guest spots from rappers Yasiin Bey and Shad. Indigenous artists who contributed to the 15-song release include Black Bear, Northern Voice and the Chippewa Travellers. The album title is a reference to the work of late poet/activist John Trudell, who recorded a few recitations for A Tribe Called Red ahead of his passing at the end of 2015.

You'll find all of the tracklisting details down below.

We Are the Halluci Nation does not include the recent "Stadium Pow Wow" single with Black Bear, though the group are teasing the album with a video for its powerful title track. You'll find the clip below, where you'll also find the breakdown of A Tribe Called Red's summer/fall tour plans.
