'A Star Is Born' Subject Jackson Maine Will Not Perform "Shallow" at the Oscars, But Bradley Cooper Will

If you just wanted to take another look at Jackson Maine when the Oscars roll around, we've got some bad news for you. Yes, Bradley Cooper will perform the breakout A Star Is Born hit "Shallow" on the awards show, but he will not be doing it in character.

Though he hasn't confirmed that it's hard keeping it so hardcore, Cooper did confirm to Stephen Colbert that he will not perform as Jackson Maine. In fact, he might not even do his absurdly deep Jackson Maine voice in the show. Maybe he's afraid he'll wet himself onstage?

This seems to answer more questions about whether or not the A Star Is Born cinematic universe can co-exist with real life. As has been deeply explored on Ezra Koenig's Time Crisis radio show, it's unclear whether the film's universe exists within our realm. While Allie is a fictional character based on Lady Gaga, pop artist Halsey exists both in the film and in real life.

One thing's for damn sure — we're far from the shallow now.

The Oscars will air on February 24, and no, they will not have a host.
