A SoundCloud Coding Error Made Private Tracks Public

Streaming giant SoundCloud hasn't been adverse to removing songs hosted on its site, namely for legal reasons. But what about posting tracks that users had made private?

Unfortunately, the users experienced just that yesterday (September 6) when a coding error resulted in a number of private tracks being available for all to hear.

"Due to a coding error during routine improvements and maintenance, private tracks were made visible on user profiles and in the Stream on the SoundCloud website between 12:54 and 17:12 UTC on 6th September," a notice from the company read. "During this time, it was possible to copy a private track's secret link, granting anyone who copies the secret link access to the track."

In response, the service has reset all the secret links to private tracks. Understandably so, many Soundcloud users are pissed.
