A Certain Ratio have returned with news of their 13th studio album. The English post-punks will share It All Comes Down to This on April 19 via Mute.

Arriving nearly a year after their 2023 album 1982, the 10-track It All Comes Down to This marks the first time ACR have recorded as a core trio of principal band members, multi-instrumentalists Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop and Donald Johnson.

"It wasn't a matter of rubbing everyone else out, it was, 'let's find the thing that makes us work,'" Johnson shares of the change in a release. "And we know that's just the three of us being as basic as possible — no frills, no major overdubs. Just visceral and happening in the moment."

Produced by Dan Carey (Black Midi, Kae Tempest, Black Country, New Road), It All Comes Down to This is also said to bring "a brittle, inner darkness that has always been latent in ACR" to the surface.

"We wrote the album while the world was in turmoil," Moscrop explains. "Which it still is. If you think about climate change, corporate war, the environment, Trump in power, Johnson, the Ukraine war, Israel and Palestine, it really does all come down to this. It's probably the most political album we've written."

Album opener "All Comes Down to This" arrives alongside today's announcement, and you can watch a lyric video below. A Certain Ratio have also mapped out a spring tour of the UK, which you can find dates for via the band's official website.
