Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz is apparently working on a third chapter to his B.O.A.T.S. series of LPs, but up first from the man formerly known as Tity Boi will be a smoked-out EP dubbed FreeBase.

The five-song project arrives May 5 through his own the Real University imprint (a.k.a. T.R.U.), and the rapper explains that he's offering up the new tracks as a gift to fans as they wait for his next full-length affair.

"It has been a minute since the release of my album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, and I wanted to give something special to my fans while I record my follow-up album," he said in a statement. "This is a taste of what is to come, and is most importantly, for them."

A new trailer for the EP was unveiled earlier today (April 15), which alternates between vintage footage of a man confessing to his addiction to freebase cocaine, clips of 2 Chainz spitting about going "one way the wrong way" atop a murky, synth-spiked beat, and more. You'll find the trailer down below.

The cover art, meanwhile, was selected via a fan contest over Instagram. The winning entry, featuring a picture of Richard Pryor, can be seen up above.

A tracklisting has not yet been unveiled for FreeBase, but 2 Chainz recently offered up a new single in the form of "A-Rod", a Young Chop-produced track that also featured French Montana.
