Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary PSP

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary PSP
It’s hard to believe that it’s been just over ten years since Lara Croft first debuted, but her tenure as the first woman of videogaming hasn’t been without problems. She found it tough to live up to the standards of her first outing and each subsequent game seemed to suffer from diminishing returns until last year’s Tomb Raider: Legend. But on this anniversary, here’s the chance to see where it all started. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary is an updated version of the original game, with much better graphics, tighter controls and a few new bells and whistles. And that’s just fine because it’s surprising just how much fun it still is after this time. It isn’t just a nostalgia thing either because it’s a still a good game. With huge levels and lots of areas to explore, this is a big journey that, although fairly linear, will offer a decent challenge to most players, but don’t expect much more than the main game. There are some unlockables, such as new costumes and artwork, but that’s about it. As well, there are still some issues with the controls, which can get a little jittery when combined with the unsympathetic camera. And finding all the light brown switches amidst slightly darker brown backgrounds will still test the patience of a saint. But there are still some wonderfully elaborate puzzles and, of course, the infamous T-Rex encounter, and that alone is well worth the price of admission. (Edios)
