Published Dec 08, 2015There's no denying that Tommy Wiseau's The Room is one of the best worst movies of all time, so it should come as no surprise that big movie stars are flocking to a new film about its creation.
James Franco is set to direct and star in The Disaster Artist, an adaptation of Greg Sistero and Tom Bissell's book about the making of The Room. Franco's brother David will star as Sistero. The film will also star Seth Rogen, who is producing alongside his Point Grey Pictures partners Evan Goldberg, Vince Jolivette and Good Universe.
In the last week, a number of other big stars have been attached to the project. Both Kate Upton and Josh Hutcherson have been confirmed to have roles in the film, and today The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Zac Efron will cameo as a drug dealer. Further, THR adds that it will also include appearances from Ari Graynor, Jacki Weaver, Hannibal Buress and Andrew Santino.
Tommy Wiseau will be involved in the film in one way or another. Speaking with Exclaim! earlier this year, he opened up about the project:
Based on the contract, I am very open about it but I can only talk about because that what they want me to do, however I will say general statement.... I will have opportunity to review it, but it's up to them how they will be spinning. I think James Franco, I think he's good actor as well producer as well Seth Rogen. So my understanding James Franco will play me and his brother David will play Greg Sistero. We'll see how they will spin it, you know, I'm thinking it's good story. My story is good story, success story. I think that could be model for other generation as well. I was speaking about it very openly about it. It's a hard world. It's just too bad that sometimes we have bad apples. But again I always say you can laugh, you can cry, you can express yourselves, but please don't hurt each other.
