WTF: Willow Smith Just Released a Beautiful Spoken Word Track Produced by Michael Cera

Let's face it — despite the allure of Fresh Prince and Men in Black, Will Smith's greatest achievement is the creation of his children. Willow and Jaden Smith are two of the most fascinating creatures on planet earth, and while it's easy to poke fun at their heady output, they achieve greatness every once in a while. Take, for example, Willow Smith's new spoken word track.

Rather than get some high-profile hip-hop producer to hop on the ones and twos, Willow decided to get weirder and enlist the help of Arrested Development actor, cinephileNick Diamonds collaborator and occasional solo artist Michael Cera.

While it sounds like a truly bizarre pairing when you read it, the final result is something sublime. Cera's aural quirks result in some playful, uplifting sounds that perfectly pair with Willow's vocals.

Even when her poetry is ridiculously teenaged ("We've manufactured a society that runs on the backs of those that choose to victimize"), Willow sounds great on top of Michael Cera's indie-friendly sounds.

Check out "twentyfortyeight 2.0" below. Hopefully this is the start of a long creative relationship between these two.
