Published Apr 15, 2015When Marnie Was There could very well be the last-ever production from the legendary Studio Ghibli. After Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement, the studio revealed it was taking an extended hiatus. Released last year in Japan, Marnie is getting an English-dubbed rerelease next month, and today we get the first taste.
Regardless of how you feel about overdubs, the new trailer looks pretty wonderful. For one, the loss of subtitles means more opportunity to get lost in the animation. Plus, the filmmaker's have assembled a top-notch voice cat that includes Hailee Steinfeld, Kiernan Shipka, Kathy Bates, Geena Davis, Catherine O'Hara and John C. Reilly, among others.
