Watch the Trailer for Tom & Jerry's Live-Action/Cartoon Hybrid Movie

Only time will tell if it will be another 'Space Jam' or another 'Looney Tunes: Back in Action'

Tom & Jerry is an intellectual property that hasn't necessarily been beaten to death, so it makes sense that the cat-and-mouse duo would get the movie treatment. Their new flick arrives via director Tim Story (the same man behind the Jimmy Fallon movie Taxi and a couple of Fantastic Four movies), and it looks like something your kids will enjoy streaming one day, maybe.

The film is a mix of live-action acting (complete with stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Michael Peña, Ken Jeong and Rob Delaney) and 2-D animation, making it look an awful lot like a '90s movie. Will it be an instant classic like Space Jam or a complete dud like Looney Tunes: Back in Action? Only time will tell, although we have a pretty good guess....

Watch the trailer for the new Tom & Jerry movie below. The flick apparently arrives in theatres next year, assuming human life still exists by then.
