If you're in need of a new superhero movie and already made your way through the Marvel and DC catalogue, Netflix's The Old Guard is something you can look forward to.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the film is based on the comic book of the same name by Greg Rucka. It follows a group of centuries-old mercenaries who realize their immortality is no longer a secret, and are forced to fight for their freedom once they've been discovered and "eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary."
The film stars Charlize Theron, Kiki Layne, Marwan Kenzari, Matthias Schoenaerts and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
"From the first moment I read [Greg] Rucka's graphic novel, I felt like there was great potential to make this thing feel really very relevant and have it ask some real questions about humanity," Theron told Vanity Fair.
The Old Guard is set to be released on July 10.
