Chris Rock's Saw reboot, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, was meant to arrive in theatres last October but, of course, got delayed due to the pandemic. The film has finally been set for release on May 14, and today, we're getting another sneak peek with the film's official trailer.
Spiral was directed by Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV's Darren Lynn Bousman and produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Alongside Rock, the film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols.
The reboot reimagines the gory torture Saw lore in the form of a gritty cop thriller. A synopsis reads:
A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the centre of the killer's morbid game.
