Two years after he burst into the scene donning his signature fringed mask, alt-country star Orville Peck is giving us a better look at his origin story with a new three-part mini-documentary titled The Orville Peck Story.

Directed by Alfred Marroquín, the seven-minute film sees Peck reflecting on his "early love for the stage, the influence of his idols and his approach to country music stardom" over the span of three chapters: "Essentially the Truth," "Creating Those Worlds," and "The Irony of What I Do."

"I just wanted to be a country and western star," he begins. "To me, that is somebody like Dolly Parton. That is somebody like Johnny Cash. Somebody that isn't just writing a song and it ends with that."

He continues: "I tell my stories and I think they resonate with people because, at the end of the day, we all share the same story."

The film follows the release of Peck's 2020 EP Show Pony, which marked the direct follow-up to his 2019 breakthrough album Pony. Since his debut record's release, Peck has teamed up with Shania Twain, Diplo, JPEGMAFIA and Paul Cauthen on various projects.
