Since the reboots never seem to stop, Archie is now being reinvented as a gritty teen drama called Riverdale.
In addition to next year's actual Twin Peaks return, Riverdale is also said to have some Twin Peaks vibes. Certainly, the show's first teaser trailer (arriving via EW) suggests it'll be dramatic as all hell.
"It's definitely Archie, but a little darker, a little more complex and a little weirder than you might remember from the digest you bought at the supermarket," executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told EW. "We're saying it's a little bit like Archie meets Twin Peaks."
Watch Archie and the gang brood menacingly while dramatic music plays in the background below. Riverdale premieres on January 26, and will hopefully still feature some scenes where Jughead eats a bunch of burgers.
